After several years of importing furniture from around the world, we decided to explore the possibility of local manufacturing using recycled woods. Consequently, 2 years ago we opened our own factory in Berkeley and began manufacturing furniture for our retail store as well as for the wholesale market. Our factory creates stylish and functional designs mainly from recycled Douglas Fir, which is the most readily available reclaimed wood in California. We have assortment of dining tables, chairs, hutches, entertainment centers, beds, dressers, bedside tables, bookcases, desks, console tables, etc.

In addition to offering our designs in a variety of sizes and 12 natural wood colors, we are also happy to do custom work, whether it be changing the dimensions or color on a piece, or executing a customers own design. We have done a number of large tables for restaurants as well as desks and conference tables for offices. Click here to view some of our custom work.

In addition to our factory designs, we feature the work of several local craftspeople who work exclusively with reclaimed wood. Most of these locally-produced pieces are made from old Douglas fir, Alaskan Cedar and Redwood reclaimed from the floors and interior beams of old barns and warehouses.

There are many advantages of using recycled wood over new (aside from the obvious one of saving trees). First, old wood is more stable than new, leading to fewer problems with swelling and warping. Second, much of the salvaged wood in California is of the quality that you no longer find new. Much of it is old growth redwood, cedar, pine, and Douglas fir, which is much more dense, clearer (fewer knots), and has a much richer color than new growth. And third, it is impossible to get the patina of aged wood from anything but old wood.
