MOST COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AT THE WOODEN DUCK:
Delivery:
Delivery from The Wooden Duck is handled by an outside provider and is never included on your invoice. The cost of delivery is based on your zip code and is payable directly to the driver by either check or cash. Most deliveries are done between 5pm and 9pm on weekdays or during the day on Saturday. Some larger pieces, multiple pieces, or deliveries with difficult access require an upcharge in addition to the standard zip code charge. Call the store at 510-848-3575 for an estimate or to schedule a delivery. All balance dues must be paid in full at the store or over the phone at the time of delivery set up. All return deliveries are are the customer's financial responsibility.
Pick-Ups At Our Location:
All pick-ups for Outdoor Garden Furniture must be made from Wednesday through Sunday ONLY before 5pm at our factory/ warehouse building located about a mile from our store. Please come to the store first to get a pick-up slip and map before going to our factory/warehouse to pick-up your outdoor furniture. The whole pick-up process usually takes about 30 minutes. Please bring any ropes or blankets that you might need to secure your load. For all pick-ups, it is a good idea to call us before coming to the store to give us a chance to get your order ready and minimize any possible wait.
Custom Orders:
A 50% deposit is required to start any custom project. You must come to approve your factory before scheduling a delivery. Any remaining balance is due upon completion or when delivery is set-up. Cancelled custom orders carry a restocking fee.
Return Policy:
The Wooden Duck has a 30 day return policy for ANY reason. All return deliveries must be paid directly to the driver. No return will be accepted after 30 days.
Warranty:
The Wooden Duck maintains a one year warranty against defects. Normal wear is not included. All furniture that must be repaired or replaced must be returned to The Wooden Duck at the customer's expense.
Repairs:
The Wooden Duck will repair all furniture to the best of our ability free of charge during the first year of purchase. Past one year, the customer will be charged a base rate of $35/hr to repair any furniture (minimum 1 hour). All furniture needing repair must be brought to the store at the customer's expense. If a customer requires a house call, the charge is based on the customer's zip code and includes a minimum of one hour of labor.
Care of furniture:
Indoor Furniture: If your piece has a lacquer finish or French polish we recommend using Howard Orange Oil (available in a spray bottle at any hardware store). Just spray on and wipe off.
Outdoor Teak: We sell our teak unfinished so if you want it to turn silver gray, do nothing. It will take a couple of years and may get "surface cracks." The furniture should be washed once a year with a mild detergent and a scrub brush to keep dirt out of the grain of the wood. For those who prefer an oiled look, we recommend Penofin (available at Home Depot) as a long lasting sealant that looks great if applied with care the first time. You can alternatively apply Marine Teak Oil to your furniture, however, be forewarned that once you oil your furniture you will have to keep it up every 6 months to maintain the finish. All oiled or treated furniture may not be returned within the 30 day open return period.
How do I purchase a Gift Certificate?
It is possible to buy gift certificates over the phone at 510-848-3575. The Wooden Duck will mail out a laminated gift certificate to the recipient. Personal messages can be included with the Gift Certificate. Just tell us what you want it to say! |
