About Us
The Wooden Duck was among the first retailers and manufacturers to offer solid, high-quality furniture at a remarkable value without compromising our commitment to the environment. Our Berkeley-based company remains dedicated to using reclaimed lumber whenever possible. We sell furnishings for both home and garden, including a wide variety of custom options for residential and commercial spaces.
We opened the Wooden Duck in 1995, with sales of recycled teak furniture from Indonesia. In 1997, we built a 10,000 sq. foot factory, enabling us to build our own furniture locally from reclaimed materials.
All lumber comes from the demolition of pre-1920s-era structures. Its re-use diverts countless linear feet of old growth timber from landfills, transforming it into quality solid wood furniture with a unique history.
In 2009, we closed our warehouse and opened a new 5000-square-foot store adjacent to our Berkeley-based factory, enabling customers to see not only our finished products, but also the process of crafting them. Customers can now design, order, and pick up their pieces in one convenient location.
Thanks for stopping by.
